1. Introduction

Jurnal Optimasi Sistem Industri (JOSI) is committed to the principles of Open Access and believes in maximizing the dissemination, visibility, and impact of the research we publish. We actively support and encourage our authors to share their work by depositing their articles in institutional and other non-commercial repositories of their choice. This policy outlines the ways in which authors can archive and share different versions of their articles published in JOSI.

Our repository policy is designed to be transparent and author-friendly, aligning with our CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 licensing terms where authors retain copyright. JOSI's self-archiving policy is registered with Sherpa/Romeo (now part of Jisc's open policy finder), and the details can be found at https://openpolicyfinder.jisc.ac.uk/id/publication/36554.

2. Definitions of Article Versions

To ensure clarity, JOSI defines the following article versions for the purpose of this policy:

  • Submitted Version (Preprint): The author's original manuscript as submitted to JOSI, before it has undergone formal peer review.
  • Accepted Version (Author's Accepted Manuscript - AAM / Postprint): The version of the manuscript that has been accepted for publication by JOSI after successful peer review and incorporates any revisions made by the author(s) in response to reviewer comments, but before the journal's copyediting, typesetting, and final formatting.
  • Published Version (Version of Record - VoR): The final, definitive, citable version of the article as published by JOSI, which includes copyediting, typesetting, formatting, and assignment of a Digital Object Identifier (DOI).

3. Repository Deposition Policy

JOSI permits authors to deposit all versions of their articles in repositories, subject to the conditions outlined below. This policy applies uniformly to the Submitted Version, Accepted Version, and Published Version of the article.

For all versions (Submitted, Accepted, and Published):

  • Embargo: There is no embargo period. Authors may deposit these versions immediately.
  • License: The applicable license for deposit of the Accepted and Published versions is the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 International license. Preprints (Submitted Version) may be shared under terms chosen by the author prior to any journal agreement, but once associated with a JOSI publication, understanding the implications of the CC BY-NC-SA license is important for later versions.
  • Copyright Owner: Authors retain copyright.
  • Permitted Locations for Deposit:
    • Author's Non-Commercial Personal Website: Such as a personal blog or academic profile page.
    • Institutional Repository: The official repository of the author's affiliated institution.
    • Non-Commercial Subject Repository: Recognized repositories relevant to the author's field of study (e.g., arXiv, RePEc, discipline-specific archives).
    • Journal Website: The Published Version (VoR) is, by default, hosted and freely accessible on the JOSI journal website.
    • Other Non-Commercial Platforms: Such as ResearchGate, Academia.edu, Mendeley, provided they operate on a non-commercial basis for the deposited content.
  • Required Conditions for Deposit (for all versions when linking to the JOSI publication):
    1. Acknowledge Published Source: The published source (Jurnal Optimasi Sistem Industri) must be clearly acknowledged with a full bibliographic citation.
    2. Acknowledge Copyright: The authors' copyright must be acknowledged.
    3. Link to Published Article: A permanent link (preferably the DOI) to the final published article on the JOSI website must be provided alongside the deposited version.
    4. License Indication: For the Accepted and Published versions, it should be clear that the work is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

4. General Guidance and Author Responsibilities

  • Author Responsibility: Authors are responsible for ensuring that their self-archiving practices comply with this policy, the terms of the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license, and any relevant institutional or funder mandates.
  • Version Identification: When depositing an article, authors should clearly indicate which version of the article it is (e.g., "Submitted Version/Preprint," "Accepted Manuscript," "Published Version/Version of Record"). This helps readers understand the status of the work.
  • Commercial Use Restriction: Authors and users should note that the CC BY-NC-SA license under which JOSI articles are published restricts reuse of the material to non-commercial purposes only. Any commercial use requires separate permission from the copyright holders (the authors).
  • Relation to Other Policies: This Repository Policy should be read in conjunction with JOSI's Open Access Policy and Intellectual Property Policy, which provide further details on copyright and licensing.
  • Funder Compliance: This policy is designed to help authors comply with open access and self-archiving mandates from funding bodies.
